I noticed that the date window on my Second-PC was adjusting its size depending on the date set on my device. As of June 18th, 2023, I found out that the expiration date for WhatsApp Desktop is set to June 26th, 2023 at 11:59 PM UTC. While this news didn't come as a surprise, it's still disappointing to see the standalone app expire. As pointed out by u/Any-Ad-1401 and u/GabbaWally in the comments, WhatsApp Desktop users are currently receiving "This app expires in 30 days" messages. Starting from version 2.2314.11, the .exe file and app icon have turned grey, with a label stating "WhatsApp (Outdated)". I can confirm that the link to the standalone WhatsApp desktop version is still working as of May 28th, 2023. After reinstalling Windows, I had to personally reinstall WhatsApp to get access to the updated app. Thank you to u/humanzookeeping for informing me about this official download link from WhatsApp servers. It's unclear why the standalone app was removed and all downloads now go through the Microsoft Store. This change is a shame, as I experienced better performance with the standalone version compared to the MS Store version. ![]() Unfortunately, it's no longer possible to directly download the WhatsApp desktop version from their website.
